My career in storytelling began on the sidelines of SEC football as I held a parabolic microphone to capture the pulse of the game. On a field with tens of thousands of screaming fans, you learn two things very quickly: how to filter out noise to catch the moment that truly matters, and how to stay entirely calm under intense pressure.
That early lesson in poise and precision shaped every step that followed. After graduating early from Ole Miss, I stepped in front of the camera immediately at a local station in Myrtle Beach. I'd later reach television markets that included Los Angeles and Atlanta. Along the way, I found myself telling some of the most critical stories of our time, from navigating the response to immigration laws to reporting on healthcare access in Alabama's Black Belt during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Covering stories of crisis, resilience, and community taught me that clear, empathetic communication isn't just about sharing facts. It is about building trust when it matters most.
